why capture moments? why expose a box to light for a time frame expanding from 1/8000th (and faster) of a second to 30 seconds (or slower) for an "image?"... it's a language, and like all men i must tell a story. some stories are just quick reflections, rambling taken out, down to what you see is what you get. but don't think for a moment there is a word of truth in any of it.

my grandfather was the hobby photographer, and my mother likes to joke, he more or less bought the best camera of the day just to have the best. though he was a man who demanded a certain type of perfection in things, he spent the time to learn and care for such perfection. it was his style, his care for the mechanics helped him work through things like aesthetics. i like to think in some way my brothers and i have continued his hobby, though we see this hobby from a different perspective.

These days I've upgraded to full-frame digital, and downgraded to prime manual focus lenses (not an auto focus lens to be found in my bag.) In the later future I hope for a strobe and some umbrellas, but until then I'll just enjoy natural light and it's limits to visual exploration.
