Grandpa Moses of the
Cyber Age's photostream
|
My career as writer, editor, photographer spans 60+ years. Got my first camera at 11 & got my 1st nwspaper job in Oct. 1952, started a career as a photojournalist in 1949, sold my first photo essay to a magazine in 1952. Computers entered my life in 1979 while supervisor of special projects in Hughes Aircraft Art Dept. My career seemed over during a period of legal blindness from 2003-05 (helped by an operation) but it raised my interest in digital abstracts - which, with photography, have been my focus in recent years.
I could still work on my computer, using a large monitor, strong reading glasses and a magnifier. I began experimenting more, using a variety of graphics software programs. Results are encouraging. Collectors have purchased more than 52 of my pieces since 2005. I’ve also acquired the nickname “Grandpa Moses of the Cyber Age.” I turn 82 ono2/22/2009.
I have been a featured artist at shows in Morro Bay; Ventura on the California coast; was one of just 82 artists (out of nearly 3,000 entries from 40 countries) juried into Art of Digital – 2007 in San Diego; have won awards at shows in Encino, Westlake Village; Reseda, CA; had my first international show (a 2-man exhibit with Gabriel Rodriguez de Alba in Guadalajara, Mexico (11/07); was juried into the 2009 Topanga Canyon Gallery Juried Open.
