  "I have a hard time writing about Keiko, because every time I try to organize my thoughts about her, they start spinning and fluttering about like a burst kaleidoscope. I find her a marvel, not just for her enormous talent, her ability to create a picture that reaches right inside you and grabs your guts and squeezes them, but because I know how fragile and gentle and sweet she is. And I'll muse along about this aspect of her, and then she'll start farting and dancing around with a leek, and depending on my mood, I'll either giggle inappropriately or get seriously annoyed with her, at the same time that I love her to pieces and I could tell her truly anything at all, and I think she'd understand what I was trying to say, or at least keep talking to me until it became clear or we both decided to get some more wine."
