Time to update.

I am now the Editor of the Barbados Advocate's Youth Publication, HELLO! Barbados Advocate, which is effectively a 32 page 10.5x14 inch newspaper insert in a mixture of black and white and colour pages. It cover's everything from entertainment and culture, to school news and sporting activities all done with a focus on the age range of 11-25.

With limited staff for this growing project, I am also doubling up as Art Director and Head of Photography, shooting the majority of the covers and most of the fashion spreads.

After, picking up a Kodak Easyshare DX7590 back in 2005, I have not looked back, and with an almost obsessive passion, have snapped and snapped and lit and lit.

Today my kit includes Canon EOS 20D and 30D bodies. Canon L-Series 24-70mm f/2.8, L-Series 100-400, with 2x extender, and a Canon EF 50mm F/1.8 lens.

For light I use Canon Flashguns, both 580 and 430 EX, as well as the Canon Wireless Transmitter for my camera's hotshoe. Still putting together my kit, I often borrown stands and brollies from friends when needed.

I also use a Dynapho 1000W softbox, which I keep mainly in my home studio, but has gone on location in recent times.

Other essential kit includes an old, loaned set of colour gels, ductape, scotchtape, a silver car reflector, tons of material including black velvet (A little cardboard and there's reflector #2) and of course, my Chuck Taylor All Stars by Converse. When I where them, I feel more creative.

While the magazine keeps me extremely busy I still have time to freelance my services, shooting album art for local up-coming musicians and singers. Shooting shows and events not associated with my magazine's content and working with aspiring models to build up their portfolio's.

Enjoying 2009
Bless.

"I'm pretty sure I wrote a testimonial before saying Nigel kinda rocks as a photographer and is a nice guy to boot, but since it's not showing up here I reckon he opted not to publish it. Oh well. :)

Edit: Ok, I was wrong - Flickr says this is my first time. Sorry about the false accusation! ;)"
