Kate Croft, 25, is a sustainable food systems consultant, food photographer, environmental advocate and voice-over actor based in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn. Her interests include etymology, permaculture, yoga and of course, cooking.

A native of the Deep South, she holds a BFA from New York University and refers to herself as "a Georgia Peach in the Big Apple" in her popular food blog, Pie in the Sky. Kate's writing and self-taught culinary style focuses on local, seasonal ingredients, the importance of community, and what a weird, wonderful place New York City can be.

On a personal level, Kate's deepest lament is that citrus fruits are so difficult to cultivate regionally, as this fact impedes her quest for the perfect slice of key lime pie.
