i used to be ordinary but then i found out i never fit in.

i'm karen. it's late at night and i'm trying to find out what to write here, because i'm not just the "karen, 16, belgium" that have been written down here for months. i've never been good at few words. i like long speeches and thousands of words to describe one moment. i like capturing everything around me in high definition, but lately, i've realised that not everything in life should be captured. sometimes memories do suffice.

i learned that when you're 16, people start to treat you as grown-ups, and i have just discovered how much fun it is to explore forests and get covered in mud for photographs.

as for photography, i haven't found my way yet. i'm constantly torn between concepts and life, contrast and low-contrast, colour and b&w. so my work still reflects my feelings and personality more than anything else.

i am not much for the screaming and stalking famous people, but there is one twenty-one years old girl that has forever changed my life. when, end of september 2010, my whole life changed, and i lived for travelling to the hospital and back, i've never felt so insecure before. my life was filled with doubts. but taylor swift and her songs were always there, the lyrics never changed, i was able to sing them without having to clean up my mind or dry my tears. without intending to, she helped me more than any other spoken word could.

there is nothing that fascinates me more than travelling. i wouldn't be the same person if i hadn't see all the countries i have visited yet. spending days in the car and feeling your heart when the plane has turbulences, it's all part of it and those things bring me happiness in its best form.

because this is already like my speech for if i once become a famous something, i'd like to thank lena. she has always been there for me, she is the one who understands me without words, though her words always help. she is the most beautiful creature i am lucky to know and to love and her smile makes me smile. it is as simple as that. you are my best friend, i would not know what to do without you.
