"The best part of us is not what we see, it's what we feel. We are what we feel. We are not what we look at . . .. We're not our eyeballs, we're our mind. People believe their eyeballs and they're totally wrong . . .. That's why I consider most photographs extremely boring - just like Muzak, inoffensive, charming, another waterfall, another sunset. This time, colors have been added to protect the innocent. It's just boring. But that whole arena of one's experience - grief, loneliness - how do you photograph lust? I mean, how do you deal with these things? This is what you are, not what you see. It's all sitting up here. I could do all my work sitting in my room. I don't have to go anywhere."

-Duane Michals

I shoot mainly with an unmodified Holga and increasingly with my iphone, but sometimes with a Zero Image 69 pinhole or a Ricoh Caplio GX100 digital.

"It has often been said that the person behind the camera is more important then the camera itself. Owing expensive gear won't make anyone a good photographer. Being able to capture the ordinary in an interesting way; to draw the viewer in by looking at the world differently is some of what makes for good photographs. Kelly's work is an outstanding example of someone with a gift for photography. Shooting most often with one of the cheapest cameras available, the classic Holga, she is able to produce remarkable images. There is a lot to be said for someone who can do this and I feel fortunate to have been exposed to her work."

"I am a big fan of Kelly's work. It does seem to transcend the real into that ethereal world of dreams and enlightenment. Yes, it's a religious experience for your eyes. Come and worship, won't you?"
