I proudly describe myself as a "mom". Aside from raising 2 beautiful sons to adulthood, I make my living taking care of other people's children.... thus, I have many surrogate "grandchildren". How's that for a "fringe benefit"?

I do NOT consider myself to be a photographer in any sense of the word. I simply enjoy taking digital pictures and I love perusing the incredible photos taken by others. If I ever do master the art of digital photography, that will be an unexpected bonus. I'm in it for fun.

My biggest challenge is of the night sky... more specifically, the moon. This is why you will see a lot of not-so-hot moon shots in my photostream. I am relentless in my pursuit to capture a really good shot of the moon. It will happen one day.. I can guarantee it. I will deprive myself of sleep, if necessary, in order to "capture" the moon. I have a feeling that I'll never be quite satisfied in this category and will always be striving for "better".

I truly thank the many Flickrites who have become my friends, inspired me with their work, for their encouragement, and for their helpful hints and constructive criticism. I have learned so much from all of you and you continue teaching me. I also thank my son, Rob, who nagged me about Flickr until I finally checked it out. I'm so glad I did.

***About my buddy icon: The little bear's name is "Baba". Baba turned 14 years (now nearly 17 years) this summer, along with the beautiful boy who has loved him like the Velvetine Rabbit. Baba is as sentimental to me as he is to his boy... a precious symbol of the unconditional love of a very special young man... and my unconditional love for him as a surrogate member of my family.***

LUNAR BREAKTHROUGH - Oct. 13, 2006
Within the past week, using an old refractor telescope belonging to my son, I have managed to catch some decent moon shots. Although there is much improvement to be made and I will continue striving for that extra special moon shot, I am pleased with my lunar progress.

LUNAR UPDATE - April 6, 2007
Well, over the past few months my moon shots have steadily improved... sort of. What I mean is... just when I think I've almosted mastered my technique (camera still hand held), I'll go into temporary lunar lapses and can't get a really good shot to save my life. Then I'll nail some good ones again and so on. It's a learning process, and "perfection" will never be more than a dream.
