Introduction
On my namecard, I put myself as a “Social Blogger/Social Media Enthusiast”. You ask, “What is so social about blogging?” or “What is social media, why are you so enthusiastic about it?”

My name is Hisham. I run a website at mhisham.org. My focus for the website covers technology updates, social issues that will affect my wallet, focus on social media applications that will help improve everyday applications and a personal endeavour to promote HIV awareness.

Outline
From Wikipedia, a blogger maintains a website, with regular entries of commentary, description of events, or other material such as graphics or video. Entries are commonly displayed in reverse chronological order. “Blog” can also be used as a verb, meaning to maintain or to add content to a blog.

Also from Wikipedia, social media is an umbrella term that defines the various activities that integrate technology, social interaction, and the construction of words, pictures, videos and audio. This interaction, and the manner in which information is presented, depends on the varied perspectives and “building” of shared meaning among communities, as people share their stories, and understanding.

Description
If you have used online tools, like Friendster or Facebook, please congratulate yourself, for you are already a part of the growing number of people utilising web applications that thrives on interaction between users.

Web 1.0 existed to bring all things in the real world online. It is mostly static, presenting information to you, giving little opportunity for you to share your thoughts with others.

Web 2.0, accelerated this process by bringing in the interaction process to the users. Right now, it is even possible to leave tags/notes on the website (something like a controlled form of website defacement) that others will take note, and then further add their own tags/notes. Web 2.0 is not about relinquishing control to the users, rather it is about sharing the space.

Offer
What do I offer to the table then? I offer you time and space for brainstorming. We will explore issues like privacy issues vis-a-vis information sharing. We will explore the different tools that is available at our disposal, to improve your social or company relations.
