I am not a photographer, and I don't seek to take pictures for profession. At least until now, writing has always been my best form of expression. I've been doing some form or another of it since I learned to hold a crayon. In 2004, I launched a weblog to give myself a creative outlet, to share my stories with others, to catalog my life (I know that someday, I'll look back and appreciate it), to further develop my writing skills and to express outward what I have often held inside.

That was before I learned about the wonderful things that are possible when one ventures out into one's life with a good camera in hand.

I've always liked taking pictures. With my first camera, I just snapped, snapped, snapped away at anything and everything I saw. As a result, these photos are unintentional and though many of them capture the mood of the time, the quality would certainly have been better if I'd just sat for a minute and thought about what I wanted to say with the pictures. During the last two years I've started to learn to do that and while I am, of course, still an amateur and only a hobbyist, I think I'm getting better every day.

I have immense appreciation for this craft. I adore the sound of the shutter and the feel of a camera in my hand. I love flickr because it keeps me in touch with like-minded folks who've become dear to me, and gives me a venue through which to learn from the amazing talent that exists in our world.

If you are a pervert, I highly suggest that you do nothing to alert me to your existence, because you will be blocked. Immediately.

My growing collection of gear currently includes the following:
Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT
Tamron Lens, 18-200mm F/3.5-6.3 XR Di II
Canon Lens, EF 50mm Compact Macro
Tripod, SilkU 9000
Canon PowerShot SD500 (Digital Elph)
And a little LG cameraphone that I use for occasional moblogging.

I'm Female, 33 and happy.

    Sherri Jackson says:

"I've had the distinct privilege of getting to know Julie through her phenomenally beautiful writing. She has a remarkable gift for expressing herself and relating to other people and I look forward to seeing that continue through her photography. I consider myself very lucky to know her and honored to call her my friend.

Also, she's a fantastic hostess, throws amazing parties and can grill a mean steak!"
