I'm very new to photography... About 18 months now.

Never realised there was so much that could be achieved with a DSLR until I bought one so that we could take some decent pictures of our children... Thats when the learning curve started and as all the children are young the best time for me to play with the new camera is at night.

I started to do a bit of stuff at night using a torch to selectively light things but found I didn't enjoy the waiting for the exposure to finish. Then I stumbled into all of this light painting crazyness and it just seemed to appeal. I am constantly blown away by the fantastic light work that appears on flickr and this is always a source of insperation and engouragement for me.

For me, I find nighttime a great time to be out and about with my camera. I never realised how much I needed the time to wind down and relax. It also still amazes me everytime the shutter closes and you see the image on the screen, the amount of beauty that can be captured in the darkness. Its a rare thing to spot a daytime photo in my stream!!

For me flickr is a place to learn, a place to draw inspiration, a place to see great art, but mostly a place to enjoy.

If you want to use any of the images in any way please contact me via fickr mail or by my website. You can request to licence from Getty too.
