I was in born in Toronto on Thanksgiving, 1984 (that's October in case you are not Canadian). This maybe explains why I love the fall, equating it with presents outpourings of love, not to mention pie.
Between birth and now, things happened, bad things, good things, terrible things, in between-y things that would make banal but poignant filler for an indie movie...
All of it excellent fodder for artistic endeavours let me tell you. Mine that personal tragedy, I say, mine it like diamonds!
Which is why I'm majoring in Photography Studies at Ryerson University's School of the Image Arts. A safe environment for the industrious excavation of woe.
I most enjoy photographing people while talking with them. This sometimes unnerves the person when they realize their eyes were closed or they were making a funny talking-face and gesturing wildly. I like these funny talking-faces, wild gestures and the indignant you-just-photographed-that-didn't-you look that comes after it. Which I also photograph.
Because I'm mean.
I work with a variety of cameras, digital, 35mm, large format, and toy. None of that actually matters to me, I've never gotten past the "congratulations on your purchase" part of any manual. I rarely have any idea what I'm doing, I'm not entirely good at pretending I do either. It's sometimes a surprise that people let me photograph them. I'm a notorious spaz.
When I am not busy concussing myself, I also enjoy making books of photos & text.
I write about both the silly and serious in my books. I use my pictures, and pictures I steal and make mine (because I'm grabby like that). This pastiche-ery would maybe point to some kind of fractured identity, a disparity in experiences not easily reconciled without artistic outlet. This kind of pointing would be best visually represented by me slowly tapping my nose as if to say fo reals.
I've just completed the fifth part in an ongoing collection titled A Healthy Fear (Of Everything)
books currently available:
We All Fall From Trees
Today Is A Very Long Day
Is It Tomorrow Yet?
Half Truths | Whole Lies
Wring Your Hands, Sing the End!
I love cataloguing, puppets, british comedy, outdated textbooks, air drumming (fave air drumming song: hurdy gurdy man), cardigans, and things that smell nice.

this is me on a pony.
this never actually happened.
(what did happen is when I was five my grandparents took me to the local petting zoo and a pony bit me on the cheek. I passed out, and when I came to I had a big bruise and a fear of horses)
