I am not a photographer.... I am a painter who takes reference photos. Along the way I have fallen in love with the camera and the pictures it can take.

My favorite times are spent outdoors or in museums, even people-watching can turn into research for another painting. I paint natural things like large-scale florals and abstracted women in watercolor and acrylic, and I have been painting and muraling professionally for 30 years as of 2011.

In the last nine years I have started my life completely over again with a suitcase and a new name in a new location. I left everything I loved, everything I owned, and I have rebuilt my studio and collection of work..... finding the new normal.

I now maintain a studio and gallery in a newly refurbished property in Glen Echo, Maryland and am living each and every day as if it is the only one.

    Georgie Sharp says:

"I can't believe I haven't written a testimonial for Judith. I feel as if I have known her for years... a comment here an exclaimation there.. always a presence.

When Judith first announced the opportunity to have her prints used for Princess Cruise Line I was excited but wary... we artists are often under valued and do not often receive true compensation for our work.

But here we are celebrating a fantastic opportunity.....

    Well done J U D I T H !"

    "From the Capitol.
Judith Heartsong belongs to that small group of people who use their real names as their buddy name!
I met Judith as she posted the process of one of her "goddess" paintings and I learned of salt as a painting technique!
She is a painter and most of her stream is photos of her work and then there are those of the studio and workspace.
She works at a major museum (I leave you to ask her which one) and we get pictures of downtown DC every once in awhile too.
I know, from personal correspondence with Judith, that she sells some of her work in Maine and other resorts and her mirrors are one of my favorite trinket art examples.
I have found much support from Judith and her attitude about life and art have been very sustaining to me during some of my dark periods and I hope I can give back to her at least a tiny portion of the love and bright light she has bestowed upon me.
Keep an eye on her photo stream for new and unusual canvases and projects and just sit back and let her glow flow into your screen and be replenished by her joy!
Her work is truly from the Heart.
Written for Sala de Luna Group."
