John Windham paintings - post August 2008's photostream

An abbreviated biography:

After graduation from the University of South Carolina in the 1960's with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, John opened Le Petit Chateau restaurant in Columbia, South Carolina. This gastronomic affair lasted 15 years, and it generated many friendships that continue to this day. The restaurant was eventually taken over by trainees, who have continued in the restaurant business all over the United States.

After the restaurant business, John joined the Burnside Clinic, and continued there until Dr. Burnside retired in 2008. For 20 years the clinic was one of the primary HIV treatment centers in South Carolina, and it pioneered in many of the new therapies, as treatment options improved during the course of the epidemic.

For the last 10 years John has been in a personal struggle with cancer ,which has gradually taken his energy. He has been bed ridden since the summer of 2008. The posted paintings have been created from John's bed, since August, 2008.

John Windham: "Painting is an avenue that liberates me from my confinement. The almost cacaphonic use of colors is new for me, and is quite cathartic in and of itself. I can barely contain the vibrant and vivid colors on the convases. I enjoy the muscular fight each one presents with its exciting new battle and opportunity."
