Hey, my name is Josh, I'm 15, and I like to take pictures :)

I get a lotta questions regarding how I take and post process my pictures, so I guess I'll try to explain as best as I can here how I do it. When I shoot portraits, I use complete manual settings (including white balance), and I shoot with a low iso and underexpose all my pictures by about .5 to 1 stop. When I edit, the least I do to them is up the brightness and add contrast. Sometimes I'll do b&w conversions, or I'll add different color masks and whatnot. Oh, by the way, I try to shoot all my portraits a couple hours before sunset because the light is soft :) it looks perty. Haha. When I do landscapes and whatnot, I shoot all manual, except I change my wb setting to shade. I figured out that this works better for me, personally, especially with the pp work. From there I just edit to whatever looks good. And that's about it, if you have any questions, feel free to ask. Oh yeah, and if you have any tips for me, please feel free to message me ;) haha thanks.

"When you flick through Josh's Flickr stream it's easy to forget that he's "just a kid". Time & time again I look at his posts and feel photographically challenged.

There must be a successful career beckoning. At least I'll be able to say "I'd heard of him before he was famous.""

"One of the best surprises I´ve had at Flickr must be Josh´s photos. I´m so impressed of the quality of his work. His photos look way better than we´d expect from such a young person. His unique style, warm and optimistic has been an inspiration to me, and makes me want to try something similar to his photos. Maybe someday : ).

Fifteeen years? That´s nothing. Expect him to be 18, 20 or older. I know that we´ll hear from him in a near future in such big ways. So Josh, keep on shooting. Never dare to stop.

    Greetings from Mexico City.

    "josh beam has got 'it'.

with a great eye, not afraid to look for that fresh new angle or shot, he is drastically improving with every photo. yet with every new shot, his distinct style and treatment remains strong.

his scope of photography is large - not focused or restricted on just one particular subject or area, giving him the flexibility to explore and succeed. his photographs of flowers are unique and different, his shots of people show character and naturality, and the list goes on.

yes, josh beam has got 'it'.

keep it up, mate, don't stop!"

"It's amazing how much innovation is entombed in this guy's mere 5 pages (at the time of writing) of photos. With an amazing eye for light, composition, and new ideas, he has developed a style all his own that shows throughout all of his photos, whether they be works of art or just snapshots with the family dog. His portraits carry immense emotion through with seemingly effortless ease, and pictures such as 'falling dice' show his amazing eye for new perspectives, utilizing not just new angles, but entirely new ways of framing and shooting things."
