About Dodge and Shoot / Joseph Dunphy

Math geek living in Chicago, branching out into theatre, fiction writing and photography, with his personal flickrgroup (sort of like a homelist), where you can see him stumble on his way to creating whichever images he'll end up posting elsewhere. Oh, by the way, guys, I'm definitely not into grotesquerie. I'm happy for some of you, that you've found fulfillment in snapping photos of bowls filled with excrement, cattle mutilations and whatever else, but I'm one of those boring people who actually likes things that are pretty, so be happy with who you are, but please don't share anything like that with me, because I don't need to see it.

A little edginess is not bad. You can do a black and white of an abandoned factory, and there's a little drama in the shot and a rough kind of beauty, and I might like that, but let's not get into the weird stuff. I'm pretty much the boy next door. Maybe a bit more educated than the usual boy next door, with a few mild quirks, but there are boundaries of good taste I find no pleasure in seeing crossed.

Regrettably, some feel otherwise, as other users have discovered to their annoyance, a number of them reportedly having photos restricted or deleted by Flickr after others posted offensive remarks, which struck me as being remarkably unjust. In response to these events, I've chosen my privacy settings so that only my contacts can comment on my photos.
