I started with photography many years ago, in the era of film, when every click you made meant money either well spent or thrown away... and the decision was not always easy or smart. Photography has always been a hobby for me, but lately I have been trying to study more and improve, with the idea of turning this into something more important in my life. The little I know about photography I have learned on my own, constantly trying to improve.

My current equipment consists of a Canon EOS 20D, Canon 28-135 mm IS, Canon 70-300 mm IS, Canon 10-22 mm. Normally my photos undergo little post-processing, usually some cropping, adjustment of luminosity, color and contrast.

In photography I like variety, but portraits is what I enjoy the most. Black and white is an area that I find very interesting due to its intensity and power to convey some aspects that are difficult to achieve with color. Portraits are for me a way of capturing not only a moment, but also a very special attitude and mood that lasted only briefly and which perhaps will never come back. Doing portraits also allows me to reflect my way of seeing a particular subject, trying to bring out the best, or more interesting, in a person. Sometimes this can be surprising even for the person being photographed. The possibility of "creating" art, or perhaps "reflecting" something that is already art but is somehow hidden and unperceived by most people is something that seduces me.

I have lived in Venezuela, USA, Spain and Ecuador, and enjoy mountain biking, jogging and weight training, reading, cooking and some other stuff. My plans are to learn new things every day, visit places, keep taking pictures. What is life without interests? . . .
