Self Portrait (with polar bear)

Why do I take photographs?
I love thinking about composition, the light and the people or landscape in front of me. I love pressing the shutter and hoping i got it right. The immediateness of looking at the digital back - and the agonising wait to get prints back from the lab. I love printing photos. I love the smell of film and I even love cleaning my lenses. I love trying a new camera out for the first time and the comfort of my usual side kick.

Flickr is an amazing portrait of 20th and 21st century life. There's too much here - and i spend too long here, but it's amazing to see the world through other peoples eyes. To be able to search for somewhere you've photographed a hundred times, only to be shown a different way of looking at it is breath taking.

Photography makes me feel unique - it reminds me i am an individual and it gives me a voice. I don't know what i would do with out it.

I hope my pictures provoke a response from you. I'm showing you how i see and how i think. I'm showing you things i think you'll like, and some things i think you simply must see.
