NCMallory says:
"In my lifelong, haphazard but thorough devotion to comics, comic strips, and "comix" (CrumbWorld stuff) I have rarely seen a talent like John's. He is a "comix chameleon" and does fine stage impressions of the Herriman/Sidney Smith/ Bud Fisher kind.
Further, he has his own highly original, distinctive style belonging to him alone.
But that's not all:
He's just as talented a writer as a draughtsman, and a special poignancy often attaches itself to his drawings and scripts.
He is intensely interested in the mysteries of the heart-- animal and human.
Into the bargain ( as he might say) goes his great intuitive sense of "stage setting." Magical landscapes, interiors and even skyscapes grace the actions and antics of his characters.
I never cease to learn from a visit to his site-- and visiting his site is something I do with increasing frequency.
Let me give his work five stars while I have the chance . . .

"From his skillful ink drawings to his delightful daily comics John's work is an inspiration to me. I always look forward to checking out his page for something funny, insightful, colorful or just plain awesome."

jungle george says:
"I only "know" john by reading and enjoying his cartoons. It seems like he must be a great guy because his cartoons show much sensitivity and wisdom.
His cartoons are charming and thought provoking. They are deceptively simple with just a few strokes and sparce dialogue but not so. If you let them soak in and If you are caring enought to really look at the facial expressions (on the humans and especially the cats), a very rich impression of a real life and real people and real events jumps from the page. Just one of his frames can say about all there is to say about experiencing this weirdness we call life."30th May, 2007

"Even better than his photos of candy wrappers, even better than the intriguing and beautifully detailed drawings and paintings that he does, is my new favorite thing - cartoons of comments made on MetaFilter. Be still my heart....this is the coolest thing ever. I hope there are many more to come, as there certainly is no lack of stupid comments from which to draw inspiration! You rock, john ralston!"
