My photographic style focuses on the observation of environments, specifically the way nature, animals, and people interact with (and within) those environment. My goal is not to become part of the interaction, but to capture and present these microcosms or events as they occur naturally.

The evolution of my photography began with perfecting my ability to see and capture things in a frame that my mind’s eye envisions as an interesting image. I started out by making a conscious effort in focusing on framing, perspective, and composition with surrounding environment, rather than the technical aspect of using a camera. The next conscious aspect in attempting to improve was to develop basic digital processing and manipulation skills, to compensate for the lack of technical photographic aptitude in manipulating my camera. My experience to that point consisted mostly of images that were successful more as a result of being in the right set of elements, rather than me changing my approach to suit the environment and create a successful image.

My current focus is to manage the environment I am photographing by manipulating the camera to allow the capture of the images so that I am no longer dependent on heavy digital processing to achieve my vision.

Let’s see where that adventure takes me, as I work to improve the overall quality of the images I capture.
