Muhammad Jahangir Khan, M.A Journalism (Sukkur Pakistan)

Jahangir Khan is a senior photojournalist who has worked for various news organizations including foreign and Pakistani media. He attained his Bachelor and Masters degree from Shah Latif University Khairpur. He has recently done a six month photojournalism course from Asahi Shimbun Institue of Journalism Tokyo Japan and has become a first ever Pakistani photojournalist who took this type of precious training from abroad.


Jahangir started his career in 1998 as photographer for Daily Din and after two years he diverted towards reporting and started working for Daily Kainat. He then joined DAWN as photographer and got five years experience. Jahangir also got the opportunity from REUTERS during his work for DAWN and remained attach for eight years. He done the coverage of various big events that left great effect on history including missiles tests of different range, air to ground missile firing exercises, Ghotki train accident, Indus blind dolphin rescue operation, flood coverage in Sindh and Balochistan, change of command of U.S Navy in Behrain, big sports events, Asian Club football tournament in Tokyo, coverage of the King of Japan, Benzir Bhuttos coverage till death, Musharraf’s coverage and many others.


Jahangir during his services for different organizations joined different journalist associations and worked on the leading positions including Japan Professional Photographic Society, Tokyo Press Photographer Association, Sukkur Press Club, Sukkur Press Photographer Association, Pakistan Press Photographer Association and Pakistan Association of Photojournalist. He is now a council member of Karachi Press Club.


Jahangir organized first ever exhibition of Pakistani photojournalist in Tokyo Japan under the logo of “Understand land and the people of Pakistan” in which more than one hundred photographer’s pictures were hanged following the international symposium and international exhibition of photojournalism in which a large number of photojournalists from eight different countries participated including Japan, Nepal, India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Bhutan. He has won different prizes on his various pictures including first prize award on Benazir Bhutto’s picture exhibition in Sukkur on her first death anniversary, first prize in competition of best pictures of the city by Sukkur city government.

Jahangir is currently working as photographer in Associated Press of Pakistan Corporation the official media of the government of Pakistan. He is now working on a campaign under the umbrella of his association PAPJ and has given lectures to around five hundred photojournalist around the country.
