JUSTIN KUANG-HSIN CHEN

Born in 1985. Leaving marks on paper (with some exceptions on pristine white wall) for as long as I can remember. My first real piece of achievement was a red car in crayon. Fortunately nowadays I accomplish much more than that. After graduating from McGill University with a bachelor degree in architecture, I found myself gradually being drawn back to the two-dimensional surface. Appreciating the tangibility of a printed piece, it gives me great pleasure to witness my work exists within the close and personal, everyday realm of our society. Currently attending Rhodes Island School of Design, pursuing my master degree in graphic design, watching as many obscure movies as possible, as well as establishing myself as an illustrator.

1985年生於台北，台灣。十二歲和家人移民溫哥華，加拿大。從此開啟我的東西合併人文觀；熱愛中文流行歌曲和小吃，但也對無數英語電影和北美都市街道著 迷。2008年畢業於麥基爾大學(McGill University)，取得建築系學士學位。經過數月的職場歷練，發現我渴望激發的創作能量並不在計算樑柱承重量及厚紙板模型中。沉澱的日子裡重拾 我兒時對繪畫的喜好。數次順利的雜誌插畫合作及理想的競賽成績促進我對平面領域的興趣。在更深刻的認知後，發覺它不只提供無盡的挑戰和可能性，我也 在埋頭苦幹中得到滿足和成就感。目前在羅德島設計學院(RISD)攻讀平面設計碩士學位，同時在課餘繼續享受繪畫給我的樂趣。
