My joy is moving freely about spaces with unbridled curiosity, without expectation; letting perception, not concept guide the way. I choose to live a contemplative life and take the same approach to photography. As you can see, I also shoot documentary photos. It helps friends and relatives living afar visualize my activities and favorite locations that are a part of my Expat life in the Netherlands.

Early photos in this photostream were simple shots taken with my Canon PowerShot A630. A Pentax K20D joined the family in December of 2008. In September 201,1 I was fortunate to inherit the K7 when my spouse upgraded cameras. I love them all for their specific features.

I lived in Madison, Wisconsin, USA for 14 years (1996- 2010). The progressive spirit, the social fabric, the arts programs, and the cafés (coffeehouses) all added to the sense of community that made Madison's eastside so special. So please, my friends in Madison, take care of my beloved city while I am away. Maybe if Congress votes to amend DOMA and/or re-write immigration laws, I may move back to America. But, I have no plans on that.

Home is now in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. I am still an eastsider, Oostplein actually. I continue to be enriched by the arts, architecture, and pulse of this active and ecologically-concerned city. I am self-employed- teaching contemplative photography and English as a foreign language. I am always open to freelance and pick-up writing assignments.Adding photography to the project is an added bonus.
