Johan J.Ingles-Le Nobel's photostream
|
Hello,
I hope that you enjoy browsing through my photos!
I would of course be glad to make images available to support non-profit or wildlife and conservation groups free of charge. I can usually provide higher quality versions of these images for print applications. If you want to use any of my photographs on blogs, websites etc, again feel free to mail me, it is always nice to see my stuff of value to people and being used! Tell me what you want, pop me a mail. All I would humbly insist is that my name be included in the caption, and that a link be added back to the picture back on Flickr. Please don't be cheap on this or request to get around this because of your 'special' circumstances, I've heard it all before. Thank you!
I'd politely ask you to please refrain from using promotion images to comment on my stream, be it for a group or be it for yourself. My rule is: if your "look at my photos" graphic is on the front page of my photo and larger than the comment you make then primary goal is to promote, which I find a bit crass and impolite, so I'll delete it. Thank you very much in advance!!!
My most popular photos these days are my macro photos - best place to look through these is the macro set:

Thank you!
-Johan
In response to many many questions!! I Use a Pentax K-7 camera, with reversed enlarger lenses on tubes, bellows, or nothing, depending on the magnification I need -- on a Velbon slider, on a stackshot controller, on a tripod. I do not use TTL or PTTL but all strobing is off camera and manual. The background is usually shone through on a smallHD DP6 on an HDMI matrix arrangement to provide both peaking of the liveview and an ambient background. This sits behind the stage which is a DIY adaptation of an old microscope lifter, with bits cut off and added. Lighting is off cam up to 4 flashes, a mix of Metz and Pentax, or Ikea Jansjo lights. This is supplemented by twin DIY fibre optic pulse tunnels. Diffusion is usually polystyrene or tissue paper, but I have a stock of other materials I use as well, from old shirts to plastic. I process using the appropriate bits from Zerene Stacker, Photoshop CS4, Topaz Detail and NoiseNinja. I do always tend to add technical notes to my photos, so that is a good reference to start googling about "what lenses I use?" etc!!!

"I do not know Johan personal friend but only as a recent contact on Flickr. I was blown away by his macro work and quite pleased to see that he included some ideas and techniques on how to achieve such stunning results. I look forward to seeing more of his amazing work and learning from him in the process."

"I'm not usually a fan of macro work. Not usually - but when I see work of the quality that Johan puts out it captivates my eye. I stop and I look; and I keep on looking.
I don't understand the technical details of how he achieves the results he does but to me it's the best macro eye-candy I've come across.
Johan is the best of the best I have come across on Flickr in his category."27th May, 2012
