Born in Stuttgart, Germany, I was interested in photography and traveling since I was still much younger than now. As a backpacker I have done extensive traveling mainly in Asia, first time shortly after finishing my studies as an electrical engineer for 21 months in 1966-68. In later overland trips from Europe to South-East Asia and long stays there I more and more focused on photography with social aspects.

    BALIwww.com says:

"Helmut Shadt is one of greatest ambassador of Bali Island, he freezes the moment, places, ritual in Bali in such dramatic style of art photography. I am speechless to describe him with words, however, his photographs will tell many words......"

    NavindaK says:

"Helmut is one of the most compelling 'social documentary' style photographers I have encountered on Flickr. The amount of traveling he had done with his camera and the scenes he had captured is simply amazing. Each and every one of the frames tells a story and its always a pleasure to browse through his photostream, time and time again."
