hi, my name is sandy. i'm a short, late 20-something making a life for myself in perth, australia.

when i was younger, i wanted my dad to buy me a fancy camera, but he wouldn't. when i asked why, he told me that having a fancy camera doesn't make you a good photographer. i spent a few years sulking about this, and when i finally moved out and started having to spend my own money, i understood what he meant.

it takes more than detachable lenses and megapixels to take a decent photo, and composition and framing are just the beginning. a good photo is a balance of the angle, the shot, the mood, the movement, the medium, and whatever fancy or cheap equipment you're using. it's a snapshot of your connection to the world around you. it's also something to write into a wanky paragraph, to make your flickr profile more interesting.
