I'm a hobbyist photographer. This has been an interest of mine since I was 15 and has developed into a passion.

My favourite kind of photography is portraiture; I am working on expanding my skills to still life, landscape and stock.

I am also working on taking my pictures to what I think is the 'next level', which is portraying a story to the end viewer. This is what I believe the ultimate power photography has, being able to relate a story, circumstance or emotion with shapes, colours and pixels.

I've decided to take on some personal endeavours to elevate my photography and to teach myself how to set up a scene, direct and use lighting to help me portray the story I'm trying to tell.

One series is ongoing Things I Like. This series I decided to do to figure out who I've become over the last couple of years and begin to rediscover my true self.

I've decided to take on a 365 project. I was looking through random videos and found this one and it inspired me to attempt my own 365. I didn't set any criteria to try to "elevate my photography", my only goal is to take and post a photo a day for the next year... no matter what. It's been an interesting journey so far. Feel free to check it out.

I'm also doing a series called Failed Pieces. This series reflects this philosophy that "even the failed pieces are essential". Without these failed pieces I would not have developed into the photographer I am today, and the photographer I'll become in the future. These photos are ones that I would not normally post because they just didn't turn out the way I wanted them to. Another thing this has allowed me to do is really experiment with my photography... since I've already accepted the fact that I can fail it's easier to try new things.

I have also started a photo blog to help document my work more thoroughly. I have recently taken on the task of working through Lighting 102 at strobist to elevate my lighting skills.

I am constantly seeking to improve my skills and welcome any constructive comments and critiques from any photographer at any level.

A philosophy I have with respect to photography, that I try to live my life by, is that there is no such thing as a "bad" idea. As in any idea can be the seed to an amazing idea. So a lot of my photos that are posted on here, I believe, are seeds for myself and others.
