I consider myself an amateur Lego builder.
I build in my free time, which is between school, eating, and sleeping.
I do not collect sets for completion, but rather for the parts contained so I can build bigger, and/or better MOCs.
When I buy a set, it rarely goes up on display, I just play with it for a little while, then recycle the parts into their respective boxes.

Parts statistics as of July 23rd, 2008 (From Peeron.com):
148 Sets (138 unique) (+-)
18,696 Parts (+-)
$1,708.24 (+-)
268 Minifigs (+-)

Purist statistics:
It goes against my Lego religion to use...
Clone bricks (Megabarfs, Tyco, the whole nine yards)
Stickers (Unless it's a really cool sticker and goes on a piece I rarely use or I have a lot of)
Tape
All types of custom parts (Clay, purposefully mutilated parts, painted parts, ect)
Glue
Basically anything that didn't come out of a Lego box.
