I'm Jen.

After a career in marketing communications, project management, and managing project managers, I walked away to pursue an MLIS at the University of Washington's Information School. I haven't looked back even once.

Originally I wanted to work on information architecture or knowledge management in a corporate setting. Or perhaps I would get involved with digital divide issues and libraries in rural areas. After initial coursework I decided I would help libraries evaluate and implement emerging technologies. Later I thought I might get a PhD or work in a museum.

Recently I've been thinking about local food systems from an information behavior perspective and heirloom seed saving from an information organization perspective. I've also been thinking about Reference at a university that offers a PhD in Food Studies. I currently work in Educational Outreach at Suzzallo Library, and I'm loving ed outreach and instruction. And then there are cookbook libraries, like the one at Kathy Casey Food Studios where I have an internship. Perhaps I'll settle on something by the time I complete my degree. Or not

I used to be a chef, and cooking is still one of my passions. I just don't like doing it professionally anymore. I live with an aging dog, Hannah, who is one of my best friends. I'm also blessed to have lots of people friends.

Many of my photos are probably interesting only to my family and a few friends, and I'm definitely not a good photographer. I do have a good life, and -- for now -- that includes documenting some of it and posting to Flickr.

I have two blogs, and I haven't posted to either in a very long time:

Season To Taste
Edit: second blog under construction to merge both blogs and move to Wordpress!

"Jen is not just another foodie information architect who will save the world with 2.0 librarianship. She actually is a fine photographer, with a sense of humor, as well as a kind person who populates flickrdom with intelligent questions and comments.

JW's photo stream is a must for any medium-sized flickr friends list."
