I grew up in Sydney before moving to Byron Bay while I undertook a degree in Environmental Science at Southern Cross University in Lismore. I also lived in Shepparton and Brisbane before ending up in Canberra in 1996.

I conduct wildlife research, with my speciality being freshwater fisheries - so yes, I get paid to go fishing and camping by a river.

I've always been a keen amateur photographer, with a lot of my shots taken out in the bush while I'm working. I bought a DSLR (Olympus E410) in December 2007 which prompted me to join Flickr. In March 2010 I purchased a Nikon D90. I've picked up heaps of tips and am looking forward to learning a lot more while ejoying the interaction with other photographers.

I am married with three children.

    Pink Thistle says:

"Mark has an awesome collection of photos, they are an inspiration to get out and appreciate the world - and of course capture it on 'film'! From platypus to antichinus and from statues to rally cars, Jek has caught it all in a great 'I was there and this is how real it was' way."
