I studied with Larry Fink in undergraduate and later got my MFA from Pratt Institute. I shot photos in a few Slaughter houses in Pa. mostly B+W but a few in color. This got me hooked into the adrenaline rush and fear connected to witnessing such events. I like to use off camera flash and a wide angle lens for people. I like landscapes and often consider people an integral part. When I leave people out of a landscape it becomes a sublime study like a sculpture. I shoot people at gallery openings , parties , protests and arrests places where they are involved and not aware of my presence. I do also take direct portraits of individuals.
I was in NYC on 911 and documented what I knew would happen. These shots are from Brooklyn and seem oddly quite, but yet are iconic images of this tragic day.
My work has been published by The NY Times, The Post, WNYC and many international magazines.
