Thanks for visiting my profile and site. I began seriously enjoying photography several years ago when I acquired a Nikon D70 with the basic 18-70 kit lens and not having a clue how to use it, I began taking pictures on full auto.

It was love at first sight for me (pardon the pun). I knew nothing about apertures, exposure, lenses, ISO settings, and all the other techy terms. But, I knew that if I loved taking pictures, maybe with a little homework, I could learn to take photos. Yes, I make a distinction between pictures and photos. I might be the only person in the world that makes that distinction, but to me anyone can take a "picture". But, when I began considering composition, those esoteric light settings, going to 'manual mode", and all the other factors that go in to creating a photograph, I knew I was on my way to amateur photographer status, even if it was self-proclaimed.

I enjoy the Flickr format. I am continually awed by the excellent photos being displayed. I have learned just by viewing the wonderful photographs here. And the bonus for me is that some of these great photographers have taken the time to critique my "stuff". From exposure suggestions to cropping, I've learned so much from all of you.

I love photography and will continue to click away at the art because I simply love taking pictures (and yes, sometimes photos).

I particularly enjoy animal and outdoor photography, especially having to do with animals in the wild.

I now shoot with a Nikon D300 and have lot's of good glass, lot's of books, and I'm part of the Red Wing Photography Club. I carry my trusty Canon G11 for my "carry it everywhere" camera. Am I the only one who feels naked without a camera?
