As of this month I will be limiting myself to an hour a day on Flickr. I may spend more time on the weekends. I have work and other projects that I need to spend a lot more time on and I need more sleep!

If I send my photos to any groups I will comment on at least 3 photos in that group (more if rules require more) . Therefore, I will limit the number of groups that I send my photos to so that I will have more time to visit and comment on my contacts' photos. I appreciate all of your visits, comments and faves. I'll try to catch up with everyone on weekends when I can.

I understand that most (all) of you are busy as well and I don't expect anyone to view or comment on every photo I post. This is something that I've been planning to do for a month. I love Flickr and all my friends here, but I have to control my addictions! ;) Thanks to you all for your understanding!

Mike

Hi! I'm just a beginner with digital photography. Time and finances limit my ability to travel; however, I've learned to appreciate my own backyard. My 'backyard' for the past 16 years has been Okazaki in Aichi-Prefecture, Japan. Most of my photos on this site were taken in Aichi. They are a window to the small part of the world that I call home. Through them I hope to express my gratitude to all my Japanese friends and students who've welcomed me into their homes, invited me to go hiking etc.. These photos express my love for Japan.

I enjoy the flickr community and the opportunity to 'visit' other places and cultures through photos.

    cabledetached says:

"Having once had the pleasure of photographing birds with Mike, I came away with the impression of someone who feels genuine reverence and empathy for the creatures in front of his lens. These qualities, so clearly manifest in his work, serve to distinguish him from so many wildlife photographers who, preoccupied with gear and technique, fail to make that crucial connection with the subject."

"Mike is a great photographer and Flickr member! He has a passion for nature especially birds and his images reflect that passion. I certainly would like to go 'shootin' with him so I could learn from a master! I always look forward to seeing his next shots! Please take a trip through his photostream or sets and enjoy the many wonderful images! I'm sure he will have many more in the future to share with us! Mike, thanks for sharing these beautiful images!

    Keep that camera busy!!!!

"I stand in awe of the quality and quantity of bird pictures that Mike takes. I've tried taking pictures of birds and know how difficult it is to get clear shots of them in action - but Mike succeeds incredibly often."

    Jeff Clow says:

"Mike (aka jcowboy) is an extremely talented photographer - and one quick look through his photostream will confirm that fact. His wildlife photography is consistently world class and he has a wonderfully unique style behind the lens.

But what you might not know is that this talented shooter is also a generous member of the Flickr community who takes the time... and makes the effort .... to praise other's images here on a regular basis.

Flickr is a better place because Mike is involved here, and I'm proud to call him a friend."

"Mike has many truly remarkable bird photos. Many of which you can see on his page of most interesting photos. interestingby.isa...

I hope the link works. At least it did in the preview. I use the More User Links greasemonkey script which puts such a link in every members photostream page. This is very handy to see some of the best photos on flickr."

In fact, when you are viewing his beautiful Japan pictures, you can feel his true passion and respect for this superb country.
When you read Mike's comments on your images (or somebodyelse), you immediately sense that he is a first class gentleman with a world vision.

Thank you Mike for sharing your passion and for your friendship.
