J. Balestraci's photostream |
Went to the School of the Museum of Fine Arts for photography, where I focused mainly on digitally manipulated self portraiture. Towards the end of my education, I shifted my focus to landscape photography.
Now, I've been away from photography for a couple of years, working as a computer programmer. But I'm trying to return to the practice in my "free" time.
I'm going to be taking a new approach to sharing my work this time around. I'll be sharing photos at each stage of my shoot-edit-print process. I think it would be interesting to see how a photographer goes through that process. What images get cut, how images get altered, and how images wind up being sequenced.
Step 1) Un-processed rough selections. At this point, there will be color imbalances, with only a copy of the auto-processed jpeg version of the shot being posted. These sets will also include duplicates and near-duplicates as I have not yet edited which photo will be used for each shot of the series.
Step 2) Final selection. This will have the final selection for each series, with no duplicates (unless there's a subtle variation which plays into the series). These will still be largely unprocessed, with only general rough adjustments made to color, contrast, and sharpness.
Step 3) I may either wait until each photo has been finished, or I may post variations of certain photos through the editing process. But this will eventually become the final series.
