EDUCATING STREET CHILDREN FOR LIFE

JOIN US SUPPORT POOR CHILDREN
Jaynii Streetwise Organisation (JSO) is a charity and non-governmental organisation (NGO) with registration number G-23,946 in Ghana with its aim of improving the lives of children and youth. Jaynii Streetwise is borne out of the Jaynii Cultural Troupe, a twenty-man group founded in 1997 at Jamestown, Accra, which has performed at countless functions locally and internationally.
Since its inception, StreetWise has single-handedly funded and supervised the education of fifty (50) needy but brilliant children.
Jaynii StreetWise funds the care of these children. Part of the proceeds generated from our public performances goes into the support of the Streetwise Project.
On daily basis, we help them with their homework, feed and offer them sports, drumming and dance lessons as their recreation.
Unfortunately, the rising cost of living and the increasing challenge to rescue more children from the streets make it almost impossible to fulfil our objectives effectively.
BE PART OF THE SOLUTION
We therefore write to you with the appeal to help support StreetWise get Ghana’s gifted children off the street and into the classroom.
Your outfit has a laudable reputation for caring for the educational and social wellbeing of children and youth who are our target. You have endeared your brand to the hearts of many school-going children through your association and support of many educative programs for primary and tertiary students alike. We are confident that collaborating with you will yield a future of promise for the uneducated children and youth.
In this regard, we will be most grateful if you could assist the Jaynii StreetWise team and the hundreds of children and youth still prowling the streets and beaches in search of hope – to sustain our efforts by supporting any of the following Projects:
•The Streetwise Project with cash or kind donations
•The Streetwise ICT Centre with computers
•The Streetwise School Building (a well equipped Primary, JHS and SHS block) with cash, books or logistics
•The Beach Sports Project to unearth and develop the sports talents.
Do not add your voice to the complaints about ‘the increasing numbers of armed robbers, teenage mothers, prostitutes and street children’. Be part of the solution - give to our future teachers, doctors, inventors, marketing managers and C.E.Os. You will be giving these innocent little children a CHANCE and therefore, a CHOICE in life. Help us to help them. Our children are our future!
Yours sincerely,
Emmanuel Quartey Naa Borkor Borquaye

Touching Children, Touching Generations
Over time, Jaynii has identified the need to support ongoing efforts by government and civil society to keep children off the streets and in school. As a poor, marginalized and deprived area, many children are found walking on the beach and in the streets during school hours when they should be discovering their talents and learning the skills to impact positively on their generation, others hawking goods or performing on street corners for spare change without even enough money for pens or paper.
Most of these children come from deprived homes. Their parents are mainly fishermen who rely on the fishing season to net in a good catch. During the lean season, there are no alterative sources of income, and innocent children are left to fend for themselves. Moreover, many of these parents are themselves illiterate and do not appreciate the value of investing in their children’s education now to harvest an improved standard of living in the future.
So far, Jaynii has identified fifty (50) children aged between 4 to 16 years who have been enrolled into our Streetwise Project. These twenty-seven girls and twenty-three boys, who were hitherto spending their childhood walking aimlessly on the Jamestown Beach, are now enrolled at schools in the communities- Accra Sempe Primary School in Classes 1 to 6 and St. Thomas Day Care Centre. Jaynii, without assistance from parents, bought school uniforms, shoes, bags and exercise books for all thirty children and registered them in school. After school hours, they come to the Jaynii Beach for lunch as well as extra classes and entertainment.
With a panoramic view of fishermen bringing in their catch, against the historical James Fort and the monumental Lighthouse is the Jaynii Beach resort, the only nice beach in the heart of the Accra city- Situated right behind the James Town Light house, where turtles are often found ashore.
