"I love this man. Jan is the Master. His images move me, deeply, always...often painfully. His eye is impeccable and his skill sublime. He's the Master. Just look. You'll see."

"Jan makes the most gorgeous compositions. He is very faithful to a certain theme and consistent in creating a certain feeling.
I am not a religious person but I love his work. I love the sadness and loneliness it exudes. It's the kind of grimness that makes me happy."

    Suzanna says:

"If a “photo-grapher” is verbatim a "light painter", then Jan XVI should be referred to as “skia-grapher” - a "shadow painter".

His works are so full of magic and subliminal drama that I sometimes get a rather obscure suspicion that Jan XVI is in fact the person responsible for the set designs to Roy Andersson’s eerie "Sånger från andra våningen" and David Lynch’s "Eraserhead", but that’s an entirely different story…

Let yourself be enchanted by his breathtaking works."

"Width and breadth...simplicity within complexity. Each image gives that singular, instantaneous reaction--but rewards upon closer inspection. So inviting, perhaps a little disturbing...no, warm is indeed the word, and comforting in such an intelligent way."

"Jan brings a new depth to black-and-white photos as well as religious inconography. His eye offers respect while never going over the top. He must be an excellent observer, a careful noticer, a deep appreciator.

And his new name - JanXVI - cracks me up. :)"

    O Caritas says:

"I don't know if I can quite put my finger on what it is that appeals to me about Jan's photography.

Perhaps it is that so many of his images are echoes of long past sights that have lodged themselves in my Catholic youth memory.

Maybe it is the gentle, quiet peace and solitude that seem to dwell in each frame.

Whatever it is... I look long at Jan's photos and study them, almost as if somewhere therein lies a message that I should heed."

    drp says:

"I've always had this fascination with the religious (churches, relics, texts, etc). I guess it comes from being brought up in a strict Catholic family.

Jan's work evokes the mysterious qualities in faith - the darkness within the light, within the darkness. They lay bare what is buried beneath the ritual and pomp and chants for penance.

These images speak more to me about personal salvation, temptation, and redemption than a sermon by some man in a dress that embodies God as he pontificates from a marble altar.

This photographer is tapped into to "the soul" of what it means to truly and deeply BELIEVE.

    Amen for that."

    Terri Lynn says:

"Jan is an artist whose images invite quiet contemplation. The subject matter, the lighting, the persepectives arouse the sort of awe one might feel when sitting in the solitude of a simple prayer chapel. Not only that, he is very kind and thoughtful! I am honored to be able to view such beautiful artwork as his!"
