a guy who is interested in photography and who works to get money for film
Quote: what flickr needs is more pix of cats and more members of Utata
unless noted othewise, the photographs in this folder are all done with film which is lab processed; none are HDR. They are resized for the web in PS E6. Some BW is C41 and processed in the lab. The traditional BW is developed and scanned by myself, unless I get lazy. The labs generally do a mediocre job scanning and processing. This is visible on closer inspection of some shots. I'm not sure if it adds 'character' or not.
April 2007 NOTE: I'm becoming overwhelmed by Flickr... I'm in process of reducing my contacts just to stay sane. If' I remove anyone it is only because of my need to get some personal time back and not a reflection on the people in my contact list. Ideally I'm heading towards 100 from over 350 former contacts. If you remove me I completely understand. Its been great and I wouldn't have made you all contacts if I didn't think you had something of personal interest to me.
Final Comment : I'm sorry but I'm blocking people who do not have a) contacts b) a profile c) an icon d) photographs
Note 2008 / 05: I've now got a reasonable scanner, Epson V 500. I'm using PSE 6 for 'cleaning' and resizing so I'm now processing images in PS. Welcome to the modern world.
May I suggest you look at the sets? It all makes more sense that way.

If you are looking for my "Graf photography documentation" make me a friend and I'll reciprocate. Then you see it all. Also there is a lot on my blog under the category ... graffiti. Select that from the drop down to see whats there. This is all public
Some people have either asked or commented on my cameras.
I started in 2004 with used film cameras primarily because I believed I could get images that kept up with high end digital. Now digital is the equal of 135 scanned with an Imacon. I've moved toward medium format and large format. I still shoot 135. Film and film cameras are incredibly inexpensive and that's one reason I use them. I have a pocket digital and it's a fine camera. Most of the images here though are film.

Holden Richards says:
"Jan has a terrific sense of the important among what many of us would overlook, or rather overlook. I think of Jannx's photography almost anthropologically if you will. Repeating back to us what we are saying as a culture. He has a real passion for his subjects, Canada, Industry, Street Life and the quietly and not so quietly ironic. I look forward to all of it..."

wurkingartist says:
"I didn't even know Jan was a flyfisherman. He knows everything about dusty old cameras and the nitpicky little details about obscure, out of date film types, plus has a great eye for shooting the mess we humans build then leave behind. Apparently, he's also into flyfishing."

Zuiko_Addict says:
"The best thing I can say is that Jan has become a friend. Even though he hasn't taught me to fly fish yet, he's still a friend. A good one."

kat cruickshank says:
"All i ever did with Jannx was go flyfishing in beautiful, out-of-the-way pockets of rural Ontario, and now i see we could have been running around with cameras in huge abandoned industrial structures. This may end up being one of my life's big regrets ;-)"

Gabriel M.A. says:
"Jan's love for the street is evident through his images, which try to capture its essence, not his interpretation. Many reinterpret their own vision, while he leaves his intact, yet without first giving you a sense of his interest, sometimes amusement, sometimes respect, always his place as a man in the midst of man-made thoughts built by man."
