As a young child, I grew up with a mother who was a dressmaker and an artist. I was fascinated with the beautiful colors, patterns and textures of her rich and exotic fabrics. I watched as a flat piece of fabric emerged into a moving form. Those moments had a tremendous impact on my life. The elements of color and texture have a strong influence in my work.

I have always enjoyed working with my hands. From working with leather, to life drawing, it wasn't about the end result, but more about the creative process. I started making jewelry in 1999. I first began with beading and then metalsmithing. The first time I saw solder flow, I was hooked. For five years, I immersed myself in classes and workshops. In 2003, I discovered polymer clay. Ironically, I have never taken a class and am self-taught. I have spent many hours experimenting with this medium in developing my own voice. From what merely began as a desire to add color to my metalwork, polymer clay has become the medium in which I work.
