I'm a lifelong picture-taker who has recently retired my first digital SLR, a slightly obsolete but still awesome Nikon D70.
I'm now the proud owner of a Nikon D90, which is by far the greatest piece of equipment I've ever held in my own 2 hands. This thing is blowing me away every shot I take with it. I'm in LOVE with this camera. If you're on the fence about getting one, don't hesitate. Especially if you're upgrading from the D70 like I did. I love my D70 and it will always have a place in my heart and gear bag, but the D90 is just plain better in every aspect. The white balance and colors are phenomenal. I've also just acquired my first prime lens, an old manual focus 50mm "nifty fifty" f/1.8 Nikkor...which is a deadly combination with the D90. Look out, world! :-)

I take a camera with me pretty much wherever I go. Photography has definitely enhanced my life greatly. I'm always trying to think of new ways to explore photography, so my interests have and will continue to evolve over time. I also have a bit of A.D.D., so I jump from trend to trend sometimes (HDR, macro, landscapes, portraits, sports, etc.)...but I like it like that.
2008 was a good year for my photography:
I've delved into the world of Lomo/Toy cameras in the past year, and I love my Holga but don't get to use it as much as I'd like. I've also discovered HDR photography and fell in love with that. Somewhere along the way, I found and developed a "Painting with Light" style that I can't get enough of.
In 08 I also got the opportunity to shoot my first Division I football game and LOVED it! I had to buy a 55-200mm lens to be able to reach the players (the Nikkor VR version), but it was totally worth it and the lens comes in handy for weddings and other things as well. It was a great decision. Every dime I spend on photo gear, it seems, is the best investment I can make with my money.
I've purchased and delighted in a Nikon SB-600 external flash for my D70 which does wonders for indoor photography and has many other uses as well! Can you say "wireless slave"? :-)

THIS IS ON HOLD: I've recently embarked on the yearlong odyssey that is the 365 Project...taking a photo a day for a year and posting them for the world to see! :-) I am interested to see where this takes me, as the first few days have been interesting already...
I hope I come out the other side with some new skills and interests, and a new and fresh approach to photography. I think by focusing my intent in this way I can better discover what my niche in this art form may be. I've already begun to pre-visualize the images in my mind much more than I usually do when shooting....
Anyway, come join me on this journey! Follow along with my trail, or start your own project and let me know so I can keep up with yours!

Have an amazing day, and capture it!

"Light makes photography. Embrace light. Admire it. Love it. But above all, know light. Know it for all you are worth, and you will know the key to photography."

"I have spent hours trying to teach myself from books and the like. Photography is such an art and in my opinion Jamie shows what can be achieved with hard work. His photostream is so impressive I would encourage you all to spend an hour to see what can be done through a lens. Truelly brilliant work."
