The once utilitarian object, the worn fabrics, the abandoned backdrops of the domestic sphere are prevalent materials throughout my work. I make as a way to explore the meaning of domicile and, in turn, the imprint that home and
familial roles have left on me. I manipulate materials such as inherited fabric, furniture, and various tools, so that they may take on a new spirit. Still, notions of a previous life exist.

The materials I use hold strong personal memory associations, yet still contain the ability to elicit a response from the viewer. By presenting these types of relationships, I offer the opportunity to fill in a story— either the one that I
explore, or a story based on another's imagination, sense of place, and memory.

By expanding the potential of fabric—both utilitarian and decorative— beyond the familiar, I offer a new way of seeing. I also hope instigate touch, creating a haptic experience for the viewer.
