At first I used my photostream as a means for friends and family to stay in touch by glimpsing the world that bound me. It helped them understand some of the daily pressures in my life. But I soon found the creativity involved was cathartic and a great release from the boredom that engulfed me. However, for my personal security, I had to be extremely careful what images I showed. I couldn't allow it to become general knowledge that I was incarcerated.

All of that has now changed. My physical freedom has also released me from my virtual constraints and I can begin at last showing my world as it truly was. I'm trying as best as I can to document life in a developing nation's prison. To provide people with a view of life as I hope they never have to experience it. To show them the injustices that happen in any prison system. But also to show them some of the resilience of human nature, and that those who do something 'bad' aren't necessarily 'bad' themselves. It's all too easy to judge someone when you know very little about them as a person or their circumstances.

If that all sounds like a bleeding heart liberal, if you view the world in black and white, then maybe my photostream isn't the place for you.
