James K., MFA, MGDC, RGD

James, a former senior designer at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York, is an independent design professional (sole proprietorship) in Toronto.

Studio Mission
The art classes for young people in grade K-6 enrich a child’s knowledge of art while exploring a wide variety of materials. To foster the creative, skill, and intellectual development of youngest artist through quality visual arts programs. Classes maintain a teacher-student ratio of four to five and are taught by School of Visual Art’s art and visual design graduated who are also professional designer and artist.

Children are encouraged to express themselves, emphasizing creativity and experimentation through age-appropriate projects, themes, and skills. A variety of materials and techniques will be explored, including watercolor, tempera paint, mixed media, color pencils, waxed crayons, as well as methods in printmaking. Through experimentation with various materials and methods, children will develop their art-making skills and explore personal area of creative interest.

James holds an Master of Fine Arts in design from the School of Visual Arts and a Bachelor of Fine Art in art direction and graphic design from the Pratt Institute in New York City. James is also a certified member of the Society of Graphic Designers of Canada and of the Association of Registered Graphic Designers of Ontario. Additionally, James is volunteer with RGD Ontario leadership mentoring program.

MGDC and RGD are awarded to Canadian residents, presently practicing with a minimum five years professional graphic design experience, whose work and professional integrity are of acceptable standards.
