My interest in photography began when I was in early primary school, when I received a free sub-miniature camera with a wildlife magazine. It was plastic, it was cheap (like the budgie!), and it shot 110 film. I still have some of the photos I took with it -- they're not very good.

My photographic education left me a painful film purist, using an old Pentax KX from the 70s to shoot roll after roll of slide and negative film. My last hurrah with film was in 2003, when I shot a bag full of Velvia during my travels around Europe, and almost bankrupt myself getting it processed. I love film but I can't afford it.

That said, I'm now a dedicated digital photographer; I doubt I'll ever really go back. Digital is just so much more versatile.

I fancy myself as primarily a travel photographer, but my work spans a pretty broad range of genres. I like to stretch myself technically, but I still come back to old favourites like sunsets and portraits of kids when I feel the urge.

I post-process just about everything, but I strive for (hyper?)realism.
