This is the voice of an artist who is full of hope. This is the voice of a girl with a lot of road ahead. This is the voice of Jaimes.


Jaimes is a singer/songwriter from Louisville, Kentucky. Though only 14 years old, she has already built quite a name for herself. Her debut release (a 5 track EP entitled "Casey Jame") was recorded and released when she was just 12 years old. Since then, she has been playing in venues across the state, and has even had the chance to play a headline show for the famed Kentucky Derby.


Though singing is obviously a passion of hers, songwriting has quickly become a huge part of Jaimes' focus over the last few years. When asked what her favorite topic to write about is, she says:


"Relationships, hands down! It's just such a universal topic. Even if you try to run away from it, love follows everyone. I'm such a girl when it comes to love. I could listen to people's stories for hours, and when they tell me one that really hits me, I have to write about it. I love seeing if other people can relate to how I'm feeling."


This connection is exactly what Jaimes looks for in the artists she's a fan of, as well:


"Right now, 2 of my favorites are definitely Pink and Taylor Swift. I like them each for different reasons. Pink, because of her incredible talent and attitude, and Taylor Swift, because of just how much I can relate to what she says. I'll be sitting in my room feeling things I don’t understand, and wondering 'Am I the only girl in the world who feels this way?' Then, I turn the radio on, and it's Taylor Swift. That's when I smile to myself and say, 'Nope; I guess not!'"


Currently, Jaimes is in the studio recording songs for her debut album, which she hopes will be full of songs that her peers can deeply relate to.


"I want people to know that they never have to give up. You can cry, and be a total drama queen, but do not give up!"
