Jake Putnam is a Emmy award-winning journalist now working in public relations in Boise, Idaho. Putnam was born in Pocatello, Idaho November 22, 1956 and a graduate of Pocatello High School and Idaho State University. He began his career in 1984 as a photographer for KIFI television in Idaho Falls by 1985 he worked his way up to general assignment reporter in the Pocatello Bureau.

In 1987 KTVB the NBC affiliate in Boise hired Putnam as a general assignment and political reporter ; eight years later Putnam won an Emmy with another nomination in 1998. In a 16 year career, he won awards from the Associated Press, United Press International, Idaho Press Club and the Society of Professional Journalists. In 1997 KTVB named Putnam moderator of the famed public affairs show, Viewpoint. The Sunday morning program finished 1st in the ratings each year under Putnam's reign.

Putnam played Division I college tennis at Idaho State, and worked for tennis legend Frank X. Brennan as head pro. Thirty years later he is still playing with six top 10 rankings in the past 10 years,four state USTA District championships,and two Idaho Open titles. In 2010 Putnam won a Gold and Silver medal in the Idaho Senior games, qualifying him for the 2011 US Senior Games in Houston where he finished a surprising 4th in the nation. On April 12, 2011 Putnam achieved a lifetime goal with a 23rd ranking in the United States in the Men's 55 division and an International Tennis Federation World ranking.

Putnam now works with the Idaho Farm Bureau as the state media manager and writes for the Producer and Quarterly magazines. He's served on the Idaho State University Alumni Board of Directors, Boise Racquet and Swim Club Board, and currently serves on the Ada County Historic Preservation Council.
