The International Youth Volunteerism Summit: Social Entrepreneurship in Youth Volunteerism, is a weekend dedicated to exploring the pitfalls and potentials of international engagement. Taking place at Northwestern University from February 23-26, 2006, the Summit will bring together nongovernmental organization representatives, academic experts, innovative social entrepreneurs, and big thinking undergraduate and graduate students from around the world to produce new knowledge, skills, and connections that will help participants engage with global problem solving in a more responsible, sustainable, and effective manner.

Students from over 20 countries and 30 universities will be in attendance for this weekend of exchange and capacity building. We received over 500 applications from more than 100 countries, in the end selecting approximately 60 student delegates. Each was accepted because of their demonstrated potential to be a leader in global problem solving. They will work in small, domain-focused groups throughout the weekend to develop and refine change-minded projects of their own creation. At the end, they will be invited to rework and submit their project proposals to IYVS. Working with enabling partners, we will fund and implement one project in the coming year.
