Iqra Newspaper is a independent American Muslim perspective newspaper with a diverse appeal. We are based in Houston, Texas. however, the publisher is an American from New Orleans, who grew up with Creole Gumbo and beignets.

Photography indeed tells a story. As we all travel, our hearts are soften, and our minds are expanded with the richness of cultural exchanges. Traveling helps us all to better understand the world. This is what we would like to bring to our readers, a better understanding of people, places and things, that might not be familiar, while also discussing those familiar things.

Flickr allows us to meet people from all around the world. We are interested in publishing your work. Drop us a line anytime.

From publisher:
I believe that photography is a wonderful art form. I have been taking pictures ever since I was 15 years old. My high school photography teacher advised me to get into this field. I purchased my first mail order camera from New York when I was a teenager. I remember how excited I was when it finally arrived. It was a Nikon. I didn't jump into photography, I thought I needed a "real career first" and went right into business school thinking it was the practical thing to do. I was wrong. Some how my life when on a 360 journey that lead me back to photography. I am more of less a photo journalist and do not consider myself a professional photographer.

I understood the importance of this field
after seeing my city nearly destroyed by Hurricane Katrina.

We at Iqra Newspaper hope to share the stories that we cover so that you can connect with us in a creative way. We cover political stories , international and local events. We are always looking for pictures from around the world, as well as things that relate to the Muslim culture. Feel free to contact me if you would like to share your photographs with our readers. Sometimes we look for specific photographs for specific stories we are covering . I am especially looking for unique pictures of masajid (mosque) from unique places around the world. People and culture, even food, special places, activities, conventions, EId, Ramadan, Hajj, etc..If you have a photograph pertaining to a recent current event or news story, by all means please send it. If you do this for a living, lets talk. We give photo journalist who have never published their work an opportunity to get published.
