    BMGrace says:

"Fearless...that's the word that best defines Michael Anthony as a photographer.

Initially, of course, one notices his fearlessness through the emotionally revealing nature of his self portraits, but it is in his portraiture of others that his true courage and artistic integrity are wholly divulged.

Michael Anthony uses his camera to transform the stranger on a busy street..the exotic, the shy, the dispossessed, the nameless...into someone real, someone in whose eyes one sees oneself. Looking at one of Michael Anthony's portaits is like a brief, chance encounter in a public square or city sidewalk...one's eyes accidentally meet those of another, and rather than a polite, unfocused sliding away of the glance, the gaze is momentarily held...a certain meeting of spirits occurs, and for that brief moment, the stranger is suddenly known.

When looking at Michael Anthony's portraits, one gets the impression that he does not simply see and photograph his subjects, but also that he elevates them through his vision and his skill into archetypes of what it means to be human and what it means to truly live a life of joys and sorrows. He does not simply observe his subjects but to also connects with them on a very intimate level, even if only for a moment...a moment which becomes timeless when he shares it with those who of us who admire what he creates."

     sguà says:

"The more I was looking through Michael Anthony's photos the more I was feeling satisfied inside my mind. Then I realized why: I was watching the world through a sensitive mind supported by a secure skill.
He knows what to look at and how to get the point. And his images are uncontaminated by digital."

"Inspired by the faces...... I usually don't write these, but it's Thanksgiving today and I have a few extra minutes to boldly go.... I'm enjoying Michael's work mainly for all the many faces he has found and for the b/w of it all.... there are expressions that leave the mind wondering and I think the imagination should always be alert... I'm glad to have found your site. Best of luck to you, but I don't think you'll need it."

    Captain Nikon says:

"I added Michael as a contact quite early on in my account for one major reason, his outstanding portrait work, which in my opinion is second to none. His camera skill not only captures a persons portrait but also their very soul too, a rare talent that very few photographers can achieve.

I also have a great deal of admiration for Michael's self portrait imagery, which is original, sometimes disturbing, but very thought provoking.

Michael's Flickr photo stream showcases a photographer who's work is always current, original and eye catching...."
