A couple of things.....

1. I am an image hound. I love looking at images, studying them. Seeing how the magic is done is what inspires me to keep going in this profession. That is what photography is to me.

2. Personally I do not care what equipment you have either camera wise or post processing skills. If I like your stuff and you are my contact or friend it is because I enjoy what YOU see behind the lens. If you feel that you need to boast about what you have - find someone else to talk to...I have no time for that.

3. We are all different for a reason...in your imagery I see it.

4. I am Canadian, not Portuguese.

5. I look at EVERYTHING when I see images in your stream. If you have porn, S&M, naked men or women, or something nasty with kids...you will be blocked. I consider my stream family friendly.

"I, too, met Melanie through The Portfolio: Pro Invitation Group, and am so glad to say I did. :) She has become such a wonderful source of feedback and praise, always noticing others' work and the love & time they put into it. Melanie's work is a wonderful pool of creativity; always seeing and trying new things. A real joy to have her as a contemporary and peer here in our corner of the Flickr world. :)

    Right Eye says:

"If a picture tells a thousands words, can pictures tell a thousand story, at least about the photographer that takes the images?

I have only known Melanie for a few months through The Portfolio: Pro Invitation Group. Have never spoken to her, let alone met her. What I can see of her is only through the images I see and the words that she writes. Looking though all her pictures and the correspondence we exchange, what stands out most for me is a strong sense of adventure and wonderment in the world she lives in. There isn't an image that does not reflect this spirit. Visions of smiles at something curious, of laughter at something funny and of joy at something beautiful. That's what I get from her images. If there is one image that can sum it up for her, its www.flickr.com/ph... appropriatel entitled 'I'm getting married in the morning'. Simple, elegant, innocent and adventurous'.

As a person, she is very encouraging and takes her time to support and help others. I remember receiving an email from her after one of my bouts of photo depression and she said,

'In the time that you and I have critiqued photos together you have grown!'.

On an image I posted she wrote,

    ‘Hey!!!

    This is a great shot!

But be careful with this lighting. In school we nicknamed this the "monster " light because it reminds people of what they look like in the dark with a flashlight on their face going upward. good thing that this child had the right expression or the result could have gone the other way and the child would have looked evil.

    but again-you pulled it off!’

Words of encouragement that means a lot to me.

"I met Melanie through the PortfolioPro group ... her willingness to shoot anything, and her ability to be imaginative and shoot it well stood out. Her work is eclectic - architecture, flora, portraits, weddings, to name just a few subjects - and she is not afraid to experiment , both in camera and in postprocessing. The results are beautiful to look at and inspiring - I love the way she shows me a different way of looking at the world around me.
I count Melanie as one of my "invisible friends" on Flickr - I'm always keen to look at her new posts; I admire her grace in accepting critique of her images; and I value her opinion when she critiques mine.
Spend some time looking at her work - you'll not be disappointed.
