Moo cards

This text is like me. Simple, straight forward and a bit naive. I don’t use fancy words to make myself seem smarter or better as a designer; what you see is what you get.

I want to be as versatile as possible when it comes to design, but I do have my own style which I want to hang on to. There’s always gonna be trends coming and going, and I think it’s an important thing as a designer to stick to your own style. This is also why I think “it’s important not to look to closely at what other designers are doing. In fact, it’s a good idea to avoid looking at all”. (non-format)

This year for my MA I have been focusing on typography, because I realized that it’s in most of my work. Even though I am working with type I wouldn’t call myself a “type geek” as Im not that interested in which types are hot or which are not. Im simply interested in if they look good and if they fit in with my idea. I like type in small doses, I like how the shapes of the letters look and how you can create beautiful things by using them.

Mo money mo problems

In my main project Im making a norwegian celebration of popular music from the 20th century. I have always been very interested in music, especially older music, which is something I got from my dad. I wanted to make it a personal project, a bit of a nostalgia trip for myself, and I thought it would be a great chance to experiment with different styles ant techniques when it comes to design. My aim in this project is to take the song lyrics out of their original contest and create something by using influences from Norway. I use famouse sentences that most people recognize, and team them up with a fact from Norway to educate people about my country.

Keep on rocking in the free world

My second project is also related to music and type, and is basically a series of vector based portraits made to celebrate the big musical icons. The idea is that the most characteristic part of the person is made out of hand-drawn typography, and shows a sentence from one of their songs. Im not sure what will happen to these portraits, but I have a lot of ideas so stay tuned!

Test

In addition to these projects I am also trying to do as much creative things as I can on my free time, and also brings my camera with me everywhere.
